Conclusion: Such wasted potential.

So, when I first heard (I don't remember where. Probably on fandomsecrets before it became fandomsecrets's topic du jour) about the Hetalia* Axis Powers webcomic - or web manga, I suppose, if you prefer - it sounded like the best thing ever. I mean, historical parody with characters personifying the different countries? It's like studying for the IB History mocks all over again! (I still have a record of that epic IM convo somewhere...)

But then I couldn't find a translation, and then fandomsecrets filled up with people going on about how racist and ridiculous it and/or the fandom was, so I gave up.

And then it got made into an anime, and I decided to at least see what it was like. My immediate thought on the first episode was "rubbish" but it would be hypocritical and knee-jerky of me not to give it the same 3-episode chance I give everything (even Torchwood! XD), and since the episodes are only 5 minutes long and the subs for the next episode of Maria†Holic STILL AREN'T OUT, I am doing it now.

C'mon Hetalia, all you have to compete with is this**, and my knowledge of History.

I happened upon a spoiler which claimed that [SPOILAR Kati and Patrick ran away together from A-Laws (and are selling ice-cream to children going to save the world with their awesome living in a house together with some cats ok, I'll stop making stuff up) SPOILAR] which I hope is true because it would make my life. God they are so adorable.

I had this theory about Innovators (oh man, I am boring you all to death right now, but I DO NOT CARE. Just watch this show so I can splurge my fannish analyses at you already) not having any secondary sexual characteristics (besides broken voices), because why would you bother building hormone cycles into your genetically engineered purpose-built cyborg beings, but then Bring and Bring!clone... Devine, that was his name, showed up with their manly broad chests, so I dunno anymore. And Anew is getting laid, which I guess doesn't require secondary sexual characteristics per se, but I assume a sex drive means some sort of puberty happened.

Oh well, Hiling is still awesome and laughing at your angst.

It's only 9 but it feels like it is midnight. Why? Why, world? Explain yourself.


Someday I will get some video-editing software and make the fanvids my music-shuffle occasionally suggests to me and I will be the most cracktastical fanvid maker EVER. Do not attempt to claim that you don't want to see some kind of Gundam 00* thing (maybe Setsuna/Marina Ismail themed? I dunno) set to Edwin Starr's "War", because you would be DECEIVING YOURSELF, my good man.

I think back in the halcyon** days of when I was first watching Firefly I was going to make a River Tam one set to "Crazy" by Gnarls Barkley. Epic.

I found some slashy Gurren Lagann fanart ENTIRELY BY ACCIDENT and now I cannot unsee the epic love-quadrangle. It wasn't even serious fanart. The internet has ruined me.



Apparently, when something is whale-like, it is cetaceous. A cetaceous pod. Also, the collective noun for skunks is odour, so claims Wikipeida. An odour of skunks.

I take crack breaks like other people take breaks for cigarettes.
...Yes, the word crack has completely lost its original meaning for me.



*NOT THAT THIS SERIES HAS EATEN MY LIFE OR ANYTHING WHAT WHAT. I need to get someone else besides Tim into this who will be a fantard about it on the internet with me. Maybe I will force Steph to watch some of it over Christmas. *scheme*
